Need your documents spiral bound in Dublin — a thesis draft, a training manual, a term's worth of notes or a report for a meeting? You don't have to find a copy shop with a binding machine and wait while they punch every page. Upload your PDFs, put them into books online, choose the covers, and we print, bind and post them to your door, in Dublin or anywhere in Ireland. Here's everything you need to know.

What you get

  • A black plastic coil running the length of the bound edge. The coil size is chosen automatically to suit the thickness of each book.
  • Plastic covers front and back: transparent, black, white, blue or red. Most people pick a transparent front, so the first page works as the cover, and a solid back.
  • A4 or A5 books, up to 210 sheets of 80g paper each — that's up to 420 pages printed double-sided.
  • Pages that lie flat and fold right back on themselves, so a bound book sits open on a desk, a music stand or the passenger seat without you holding it.

How much does spiral binding cost?

You pay per book, by thickness. The price includes the coil and both covers:

Sheets of 80gA4A5
Up to 20€1.95€1.50
Up to 50€2.95€2.50
Up to 100€3.95€3.50
Up to 150€4.95€4.50
Up to 210€5.95€5.50

Heavier paper makes a thicker book, so a book on premium 100g paper fills up a little sooner and one on 70g draft paper a little later — the order page does the maths for you. Binding never adds printing: your books are made from the copies you order. Promo codes apply to the printing only, and binding counts towards free An Post delivery once your printing plus binding comes to €30 or more. The full price list is on our terms page.

How to order spiral-bound books online

  1. Upload your PDFs and choose, for each file, the paper, colour, single or double-sided printing and the number of copies.
  2. Bind your documents. Create a book, then drag your PDFs into it — or add them from the list — in the order you want them bound. Choose the front and back covers.
  3. Watch the thickness bar. Each book shows its sheets, its coil and its price as you go, and warns you if it gets too thick.
  4. Need several bound copies? Every copy is its own book. Use Duplicate and we add the extra copy for you if you haven't ordered it already.
  5. Anything you leave out of a book is printed loose — handy for forms, handouts or a copy you want to annotate.

Then choose delivery, check your instant quote and pay by card. You see the exact total, binding included, before you pay.

A document too big for one book?

Long manuals, reading packs and big appendices often run past what one coil can hold. Use Split by pages on the PDF and tell us where to cut — after page 200 and 400, for example — and you get separate parts that you can put into different books. You can split a part again, and any part you don't put in a book is printed loose.

Mixing documents in one book

A book can combine as many PDFs as you like, in any order, and they don't have to match: colour and black & white, different paper weights, single and double-sided can all go in the same book. The one rule is that a book is either A4 or A5.

When a book is printed double-sided, we keep every document tidy: a document with an odd number of pages gets a blank page at the end, so the next one starts on a fresh sheet (you can let documents run on instead, if you'd rather save the paper), and single-sided documents keep their backs blank.

Getting your PDF ready

  • Leave a margin on the bound edge. We punch about 6 mm in, so keep text and page numbers comfortably clear of that edge.
  • Make page 1 your cover. With a transparent front, the first page of the first document shows through — a title page with your name, course or logo looks great.
  • Check the page order in each PDF, and the order of the PDFs in each book, before you pay.

What we don't do

To be clear about it: we offer spiral (plastic coil) binding only. We don't do hardcover, thermal, comb or wire binding, and we don't staple — documents you don't bind arrive as separate, loose sets. If your university needs a hardbound thesis, a spiral-bound copy is still ideal for your supervisor or for proofreading first.

Delivery

We print, bind and post your order the next working day, and An Post usually delivers the working day after, anywhere in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Standard delivery starts at €1.95, or choose tracked Express or Registered post at An Post's own price.
